Arsenal is approaching the final stages of signing Marquinhos from São Paulo for just under £3m. The 19-year-old Brazilian winger hasn’t signed a new deal with the Brazilian club, so it could mean that Arsenal is getting a reasonable price for the young star. The reports first came out from Geglobo and Sport Witness about the potential transfer. Both outlets say that the deal is nearly done, and Sports Witness adds that he’ll likely be loaned out to a La Liga club next season. Journalist Thiago Fernandes added that São Paulo offered the winger a new contract worth 13x more than his current deal, but the player refused to entertain the offer.

While there is not extensive information on the player, many reporters that cover young talented players in South America say Marquinhos is best known for his pace, technical ability, and creativity.

This would be another signing from Technical Director Edu Gaspar that involved a low fee for a Brazilian youth star. The last signing was Gabriel Martinelli, who has grown into first-team selections and is still only 20-years-old. While the deal seems to be finalized by the media outlets, Fabrizio Romano tweeted that there are still final details to be discussed before it’s finished. However, the Arsenal Board discussed that their transfer vision is completed and clear, so this deal could be done in the coming days.
