Despite having David Raya and Kepa Arrizabalaga, Arsenal has added another goalkeeper to the squad. Ilan Meslier, the 26-year-old, featured 190 matches for Leeds United but lost his starting role after the 2024-25 season.
As it stands now it is expected that Meslier will be the third choice goalkeeper for Arsenal, but a potential exit for Arrizabalaga remains on the table with the Spanish goalkeeper seeking first-choice opportunities. Reports have suggested teams from Spain and Italy are likely to inquire about Arrizabalaga in the coming weeks.
Depending on if Arrizabalaga stays or goes, the Meslier signing may also open the opportunity for Tommy Setford to go out on loan next season. The 20-year-old has hardly featured for Arsenal and could benefit if sent out on loan.
Meslier joins Piero Hincapie as the second official signing for Arsenal this summer, after the Bayern Leverkusen loanee became a permanent move.
